Craig Colbert  received his B.S. in Bible from Columbia International University in 1983 and his M.S. Degree in Community Development in 1989 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. After high school he joined the U.S. Army (1973-1977) in the 101st Airborne Division being discharged honorably with the rank of sergeant in an infantry unit. He is originally from Leesburg, VA.
 
Craig served in Morocco for two years seeking to start a rural water development project. He and Shirley started International Friends in 1986 first under the auspices of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and then in 2006 under the auspices of InterFACE Ministries.
 
Shirley received her B.S. in Home Economics Education  from the University of Wisconsin - Stout, then taught in junior high public schools for several years, before getting a Certificate in Bible & Missions from Columbia Seminary and then served as the co-director of Child Evangelism Fellowship in the inner city of Milwaukee, before marrying Craig and serving in Morocco with him. She is the ESL Tutor Trainer for Literacy Action Corps in Columbia and has taught ESL part time for many years with Adult Basic Education in Columbia Public Schools.
